Please Hold the Line

please-hold-the-line

XAP’s Liz Sergeant has created a site-specific work for @TheOldCuriosityBox, a pop-up gallery in Herts.
“Please Hold the Line (while we try to connect you)” plays with shimmering telephone wires to create a visible, open network within this historic public telephone kiosk. Tense, taut and eager to receive our words as electrical pulses, they criss-cross, connect and communicate – like the charged synapses of the phone box’s nervous system – pre-dating fibre-optic cable and wireless communication.
