Liz Sergeant is a British artist whose work examines the artist’s role as a catalyst for change, through interventions, installations and playful disruptions. Working across a variety of media, including performance, Liz’s practice explores the way art can be experienced – in galleries, public spaces, heritage sites or schools – and tests the notion of art as a participatory outcome and/or collaborative event. She is a founder member of London-based arts collective XAP.

Since graduating with a BA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins in 2012, Liz’s work has been selected for exhibition by SpaceStation 65, Re:Kindle Public Arts, Yinka Shonibare’s Guest Projects (with XAP), Moving Image Margate 2016, Whitstable Biennale’s Satellite programme (with XAP) 2016, SheFest 2018, the Estuary Festival 2021 and Wandsworth Arts Fringe Festival (with XAP) 2019, 2021 and 2023. Liz organised the local Cultivate Arts Festival in Hertfordshire in 2018 & 19, developing large-scale installations in public buildings to engage and provoke discussion.

As an artist educator, Liz is a regular guest artist in local primary schools, running workshops and large-scale projects to inspire creativity. She is a lecturer in Modern Art History for the U3A.
